Project Neer
Project Neer was created when we found out about the water crisis during one of our field visits in Nabiganj. While most of us hardly have to worry about the shortage of water or about its purity, there are people, especially in the rural side, who have to travel miles to collect water and even then it’s mostly impure and filled with excess iron.

Project Neer was created when we found out about the water crisis during one of our field visits in Nabiganj. While most of us hardly have to worry about the shortage of water or about its purity, there are people, especially in the rural side, who have to travel miles to collect water and even then it’s mostly impure and filled with excess iron.
We inaugurated the project in Anatabad, Nabiganj back in 2021. We noticed how many families in Anatabad had a shortfall of access to clean water. From elderly to children as young as 5, they had to travel long distances on a daily basis to bring a limited amount for their necessary uses. Through Project Neer, we installed 4 tube- wells in 2 locations in Nabiganj; which ensured easy access to clean, hygienic and safe drinking water for everyone living there.
About 100 families (along with bystanders and the general public who pass the areas) have benefited from the 4 tube-wells installed so far.
Since then, Project Neer has turned into a long term project. It operates in two ways:
Installing Tube-Wells for community: Depending on the area, and how hard it is to access water, we build both regular and deep tube-wells.
Water filter for individual families: For underprivileged families and those who are elderly and cannot walk distances to carry water, we give them a special kind of water filter. This water filter is exclusively made for the rural areas; it is made of stone and cement, and can store up to 45 L of water. This is a good choice especially for areas where iron level is high in water; these filters are created to withstand the high iron, and purifies the water enough to drink. There is no maintenance cost, as a deep clean every 6 months is enough.
